We are now offering group classes virtually on ZOOM!

  • Groups of only 12 students maximum to facilitate personalized focus and attention on your young and budding chess player.
  • Class time is divided into instruction, training exercises and supervised play.
  • 10 week semesters.

 

Developing Great Thinkers

Now in our 30th year, Tri-State Chess has been creating chess teams and teaching after school and curricular chess programs in the Greater NY area since January 1991!

Beginner Classes: For all grades are for complete beginners. It includes students who don't know how to move the pieces and those that only know how to move the pieces and nothing else.

Sundays: September 17, 24     October 1, 8, 15, 22, 29     November 5, 12, 19

  • Grades K-1 – 8:00-9:00am
  • Grades 2-3 – 9:15-10:15am
  • Grades 4+  -- 12:00-1:00pm

 

Intermediate/Advanced classes: Students must know what checkmate means and know how to move all the pieces.

Saturdays: September 16, 23, 30     October 7, 14, 21, 28     November 4, 11, 18

  • Grades K-3 - 8:30-9:30am
  • All ages - 9:45-10:45am (Rated 900-1300)

 

Advanced Chess Tournament Entries

Register Online and your entry will appear automatically on our Advanced entries page! Players will see in advance which players are competing in a specific tournament & the schools they are from.  

Chess Programs

Monthly Chess Tournaments

Tournaments at Bryant Park are divided into 7 sections based upon age and strength.  Players can play "up" into any section.  The top section includes Adults and offers Cash prizes.  Trophies, plaques and medals to all others.
